My Philosophy about Teaching

in Today's Changing World

I have the ability to accept people the way they are and to treat everyone the same, regardless of the different way they look or what they believe. The teaching of each individual student must be the same basically, with the differences arising only in their ability to learn, or the difficulty in particular areas. I have a deep conviction that all students have the potential to develop to the best of their ability if they are given the proper instruction, motivation, direction, and opportunity. As a teacher, I believe I must get to know the student, determine if special needs are present and what I must do to meet the special need whether it is psychological or physical. It is important to assure that students are treated in a way they can feel a part of the group. The teacher must be sure other students do not cause the student who is culturally different to feel he is less important or different from the other students. I feel strongly about this, and am sure I will be able to make this happen for the benefit of all of my future students.
The reasons I would like to be a teacher are many and varied: I have an ability to impart things I have learned to others. I have the ability to get students excited about learning. I have had substitute teaching jobs and felt the satisfaction of seeing a child learn, suddenly realizing he can accomplish the task. There is no greater joy than watching a child learn. There are many complications to be overcome by today’s teachers, but good people must get into the field of education or the obstacles will not be overcome. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA in all my college studies and I am no stranger to overcoming obstacles.
