Ray and I used to move around a lot. Whenever we moved to a new place, I would worry that Kitty Bear might get disoriented in the new locale, and get lost. So, I thought of putting a red bandana around his neck to help solve this dilemma.
You may ask, "But how does a red bandana help?" Well, if in fact Kitty Bear did get lost, and I had to look for him around the neighborhood, I figured it would help me to locate him. If I walked up to you in your neighborhood and asked, "Excuse me, did you see a black and white cat wearing a red bandana?" I think you would remember him! Indeed, every time I had to look for him, neighbors would just point in the direction they saw Kitty Bear headed. "He went that-a-way!" Obviously, one does not forget seeing a cat wearing a red bandana.
Kitty Bear lived in nine different places during his long life with me, and he never got lost.
