Introduction

I love a mystery.

This site is a development of a program I presented to fellow librarians on the mystery genre, highlighting print and Internet resources for introducing readers to mystery and detective stories. I hope that this page will be helpful to mystery readers everywhere, from the neophyte to the die-hard fan.

The site is divided into several sections. The first part outlines the history of the genre, with excursions into a few of the major types of mysteries. Links throughout the site are to external sources on the web. Where possible, links to online texts of classic novels and stories are provided.

This is very much a work in progress. If you have comments or links to recommend, please e-mail me at [email protected].

Just click on the creaking door throughout the site to return to this page.
