Grew up in the small rural town of Pinckney,    Michigan
Had a life-long interest in art
Father was a mason & carpenter; mother ran    a dance school
Studied art and graduated from Pratt  
   Institute in New York City
Interned at Dial Books for Children, where
   he became interested in becoming a
   children's book author and illustrator
Lives and works in New York City writing, 
   illustrating, and creating award-winning
   pop-up and other children's books
