Moon Magic


The Goddess with three faces, Maiden, Mother and Crone, representing the waxing, full and waning moon. Each governing a certain kind of magic. The moon affects weather patterns, creates the tide and influences earthquakes. In some traditions, menstruating women withdrew to the moon lodge to focus on developing creativity and intuition, only returning home as the crest of the new moon appeared. Along with its magical abilities the moon has been attributed with the ability to cause madness, with the claimes being made that during a full moon more people suffer with mental illness. Lunatic coming from Luna which in Latin means moon. It has also been claimed that during a full moon crime rates increase, and higher numbers of people are hospitalized. There is also the legend of the werewolf, a condition called Lycanthrope is thought to be the grounds of this legend. It's sufferers develop enhanced strength around the time of the full moon.
