They represent the unity between the four elements . The molecular stature relates them to water , the electrical charge they transmit to fire , the light that passes through them to air and they are a gift from the earth . They act as amplifiers of energy . A crystal should be cleansed before it is used this can be done by visulization , mooning or any of many other methods . The crystal needs to be charged so that its energies are focused on a particular goal . They can be used in many ways including , divination , as talismans and amulets , as aid to meditation , as a reminder , and a healer .

Two of my particular favorites are clear quartz and rose quartz . Clear quartz can be charged to take on the properties of any crystal and is widely used , it has the clarity and purity of water and glass . It washes away negative energies , and can be used as a window in divination . It strengthens the bridge between the two worlds and aids dream and psychic journeys . It is also a strong healer and is most often used in healing wands .

Rose quartz is the stone love and used in love rituals . It promotes peace , happiness , inner peace and self acceptance and of course love . It aids in healing the heart .

Quartz crystal naturally has straight edges , and larger pieces have cracks , these are a natural characteristic of the stone , and stones with no impurities are unlikely to be real quartz .

Crystal comes from ' krystallos 'which means ice in Greek , it was thought that crystal was permanent ice . Quartz comes from ' querklufterz ' which means ' cross vein one ' in Old Saxon .
