| I teach a non-credited class at Sierra College, in Grass Valley, CA, twice a year. The class is called "Exploring the Night Sky". It runs five weeks in a row. In Spring 2008 it begins Friday March 28, with the last class being April 25. It starts at 7:30 and goes until 9:30 PM, on those five consecutive Fridays. In Fall 2008 it is expected to be on Saturdays, beginning September 20 and ending October 25. Times are from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. It runs six Saturdays. Each of the five nights consists of about an hour of lecture and discussion, held in a classroom, and an hour of visual astronomical observation at the facility's observatory. We use a C-11 and several C-8 telescopes, and a couple of 6" and 8" reflectors. We will also be using binoculars and the unaided eye. This class is open to anyone wanting to learn more about astronomy. We will study the solar system, stars, clusters, galaxies, constellations and the motions of objects in the sky. The cost is about $75 for the five nights, payable to the Sierra College Continuing Education department.
