BLACK CANYON OF THE GUNNISON NATIONAL PARK

This National Park in Colorado was carved out by the Gunnison River. It was designated a National Monument in March 1933 and became a full fledged National Park in October 1999. Adjacent to the park is the Curecanti National Recreation Area the heart of which are three reserviors; Blue Mesa (the largest lake in Colorado); Morrow Point; and Crystal.
