As a small boy he wanted to make movies. But when it was pointed out to him the expense and complexities of filmmaking, he decided to become a writer.
�As a writer,� he said, �I could become my own film studio. I could be the producer, screenwriter and director. I could be the special effects wizard, do the casting and production design.�
Don began writing in the 4th Grade at Howard Wood Elementary School. His first �books� were about dinosaurs, hand penciled, drawn and stapled together.
Don graduated from Torrance High School, lately also known as � from Fox�s teen drama, Beverly Hill 90120 and as Sunnydale High in the Buffy, the Vampire Slayer television series.
In 1974 he moved to Arizona. In 1983 he met ASU graduate and graphic designer Cecelia Melendez. A year later they were married. Cecelia is currently Art Director for a major marketing and communications company in Phoenix. She also designed the cover art for The Turquoise Dagger. They make their home in Glendale, Arizona.
