The "Don Kool" FAQ
Who is Rev. Don "Kool?" His real name is Donald McDonald. He claims to work for the government as a UNIX systems administrator. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland. He is an exceedingly active participant in several Usenet newsgroups (1), most notably alt.activism.death-penalty, comp.unix.admin, and comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.misc.

He has engendered enmity in the forums where he participates, due to his inappropriate language (2), abject cruelty (3), stating opinion as fact without ever defending his position (4), posting "helpful" messages that are anything but (5), generally thrashing the signal-to-noise ratio in various groups, and a slew of other antisocial behavior.
Reverend? Apparently (1, 2) he is an "ordained" member of the Universal Life Church: "The ULC is Non-Denominational & Will Ordain Anyone For The Asking..."(3)

Note that this has not been verified, but that Mr. McDonald has consistently skirted the issue, refusing to address it or provide any sort of proof.
How do I deal with Don? Ignore him. Some of the regulars, and the newly arrived, will spar with Don occasionally. Whether this is light-weight mental exercise or an actual attempt at reasoning with Mr. "Kool" is unknown, but the end result is always the same: Mr. "Kool" seems incapable of learning. Even when confronted with cold, hard, factual evidence he clings to his position, defending it with strategic edits and by sidestepping and evading the issue (1). Arguing with him will do you no good, besides being fairly cathartic.
