        You find out why the system is looking for a filename with a "*" in
it.

        You can't "telnet in with ssh".

        The real problem is that you're trying to run a pseudo UNIX system
on a PC.  What you should do is boot your PC back into Windows and
then purchase yourself a UNIX machine with a UNIX system pre-loaded
on it.
