My Poetry
Freedom
We cast off the plaid and the tartan
And the Saltire is all that remains
We are badgered from political sources
To vote for our freedom again

And though the centuries have taught us
That we can be true to the fight
We vote not for the power
But for the belief that freedom is right

The shadowy den of Westminster
Where the enemy rule with the pen
Are lobbying not to support us
But to belittle a nation again

One vote can make the difference
Let a different cross be your guide
Let us once more be a nation
Who wears its tartan with pride

So this election on June 7
Rise and vote with the pen
So that Scotland can say without question
We will be a nation again
