My Poetry
Crystal
Catch the crystal drop of water
frozen in the wintery sky
Glistening in the evening sunset
where the sun begins to die
Red skies shine and snow flakes settle
upon the leaf bare barren trees
Birds are hiding in the hedgerows
trying to avoid the winter freeze
The morning frost is welded
to the windshield of my car
my hands feel like they're blocks of ice
as I scrape with my credit card
Then when finally I'm in the car
I find myself amazed
the inside of my windshield
is frosty pattern glazed
After a few more minutes
when the heater heat comes thru
I start to get a little warm
and have a clearer view
I'm only a few miles down the road
when the blizzard starts to blow
and the cycle of winter starts again
with sleet and frost and snow
The crystal drop of water
that falls from the frozen sky
lands upon my windshield
and immediately starts to dry
I have a picture of its journey
in the recess of my mind
It's one of the strangest journeys
I think you'll ever find
