In those days the team took part in local festival events. Different generations of the Glen team formed of and on since then and although the club did affiliate for a year or two in the mid eighties it wasn't until now that the club are a major force in both Ulster and National competition.
The original team affiliated to the ITOWA in the year 2000 and had a very successful opening season winning two events and coming second in the other three events in what was then division 4.
They won the 720 kilo division in Bunclody Co. Wexford and the 680 Division in Stradbally Co. Waterford. They finished runners-up in the other three weights.
By the 2001 season the club had been promoted to division 3 of the national league, the league was however reduced to three divisions so the Glen competed in division 2. Their first day out in division 2 was a very successful one finishing runners-up to Glenade from Co. Leitrim. Despite taking the first end in an exciting final, the craft of Glenade saw them take the pull 2-1.
