In conditions hurriance Ivan would have felt at home in donegal 1st got
there season off to a perfect start. Playing with the wind first half
donegal started strongley with the forwards in command winning loose
ball,scrums and supporting each other well.It wasnt long till they got
on the score sheet. After turning over the ball and making a surge up the
sideline donegal spread the ball wide and with great handling there was
david murrey to score in the corner.Shortly before half time after more
great play Jimmy brogan was on hand to force his way over the line
which vinney murrey converted to leave the score 12-0 at half time.Donegal
knew that newry would come at them in the 2nd half with the wind in their
backs but within 5 minuites donegal through vinney murrey killed the game
with a try. Donegal forwards showed their supremecey when pushing newry off
their own srum for vinney once more to score. No matter what newry throw at
donegal it made no diffence. They were playing with convidence .Donegal
tackled everything, rucked well and the backs were moving the ball well
dispite the weather and man of the match shane gillespie completed the
scoring late in the half with another good try. Every player played
there part and if they stick together it could be a very good season.

Training continues on tuesdays at 7.30 at clubhouse.Next week 1st away to
cookstown 2nds home to cookstown 2nds
