Who am I?

Basically, I guess you could say that I'm a nobody. Unless, you count me among the millions of people that really make this country work. People who work, pay taxes, people who don't expect that just because they are a citizen of this country expect the government to support them. DON'T get me wrong, people who are in trouble through no fault of their own should receive help. However, that help should come from religious organizations, charitable organizations or just community response. NOT government.

I'm seventy years old, retired. Come from a broken family, my mother and father went their separate ways when I was a very young child. Don't ask me why, I was raised by grand parents and then with an aunt and uncle. I quit high school at seventeen. According to todays Liberal Democratic standards that made me a prime candidate for a criminal life ending in prison or a life on welfare. I went on my own at seventeen and never looked back.

From high school, I went straight into the Navy, the Navy was my first job. After leaving the Navy at age twenty one, I held four jobs before retiring. I never collected unemployment or welfare in my life. Some people would argue that I'm collecting welfare now that I'm collecting Social Security. I'll cover my views about Social Security on a different page.

Let me apologize ahead of time to the people that get the impression that I'm tooting my own horn or bragging. That is not my intention. I'm just trying to put across what life is all about. Life is never easy, most of life consists of many decisions that people have to make for themselves. Some good, some bad. You have to live with your mistakes (sometimes other peoples mistakes) and overcome them. NOT blame society for them and give up.

DON'T tell me that you can't make it because you're poor, you're the wrong color or have the wrong ethnic background. It may take some sacrifice on your part, night school and correspondence courses instead of enjoying good parties with friends. I got a GED high school diploma and took many correspondence courses. Went to night school for many courses. Anyone in this country can make it.
