What happened next ...

After the mixer, Don and Judi started seeing each other on a regular basis. There is a rumour that they REALLY met at a bar one night when they were in college, and that their first date was on New Year's Eve, shortly after their first meeting. It is also rumoured that Judi went home and told her mom, "I met a MAN!" Her Mom, no doubt, have visions of the pipe smoking sailor dancing alarmingly in her head!

Luckily, Judi had left the sailor far behind and moved on! Not only was she in college working towards her teaching degree, but her MAN that she'd met was in school to become a nurse. After graduating, Don worked at Saint Mary's Hospital in Green Bay in ICU/CCU (Intensive Care Unit/Coronary Care Unit, for those of you who are not versed in medical terminology). Judi graduated in December of 1976 and was doing substitute teaching.

Then the fateful day came! After going to McDonald's one afternoon, Don asked Judi to marry him. They vowed never again to speak of the stone manequins that led them to meet in the first place. After finishing their cheeseburgers (Judi gave her cheese to Don), they drove to Saint Jude's Parish. Luckily, it was right around confirmation that year, so the church was already decorated! After the ceremony, they took the chocolate shake they had left over and went to have pictures taken.

The newlyweds moved into a quaint little duplex on Green Bay's west side and lived the quiet, happy lives of a man and woman newly married. Well ... not quite. Less than a year later, their lives changed once again!

Why, you ask?
