Do you even know what a P60 is?

I was at a business class the other night. We were talking about TAX forms and discussing the various TAX forms, like the TR1 form that you fill in if you want to start a business, or the famous P45 which you were threatned with by your employer if your work was not up to scratch, for the P45 is a TAX form that you get the show your tax status when you leave your forms. The lecturer then casually moved from that to talking about the P60 form. He mentioned that the P60 form is the form that informs you of your taxation relief rights. In fact, even though i know what the form is for I still have a hard time explaining its purpose. Do you know what the hell the P60 tax form is?

Interesting isn't it. You probably have no idea what its for. This would also explain why the Irish Government have made a profit of over a billion euro last year from P60 related monies. You see, the P60 is a form that you send in with your tax back claims, things like medical costs, or whatever the hell else you can use the P60 to do.

Here is what I am ranting on about... why are we not told about things like the P60? Why is the government not helping us and telling us about money that is ours? If I was sent down to the shop with �10 to buy a product that cost lets say �8, and the product actually turned out to be �5, would you pocket the extra �3? Another example, lets say that you have an accountant, and you ask the accountant to keep an eye on your thousands and thousands of euro, but then you find out that the accountant is actually secretly pocketing money that he is saving for you with tax breaks and deductions etc. So while the accountant is not actually stealing money from you directly, he is definately taking your money.

This is what the government is doing. Now, in the caser of the accountant you say "Mr Accountant, your fired!" Then that is that problem fixed, but with the government you can't do that, you cannot fire the government, so although you know that what is happening is wrong you just have to suck it all up and simply hope that this government will change or that the next government will simply be different and "nice" and tell you what you are entitled to.

But I am sure that there are the politically minded of you out there that will read this and say, "well son, if its broken just go and fix it" (though maybe not in those words). Well I am glad to say that I am not that stupid and uneducated to accept that arguement. Like the soilder that goes to wars to fight for what he thinks is freedom, but he is really fighting for a government that is waging a war over oil prices, I am not going to run for government and try to change things from the inside, and kill who i am in the process. I am not a politician, i know that well. I am a person who voted, helped hire in a staff to do a job, that job i persumed was to do the best for the greatest number of people. I do not think that that is what we have with our government. I hate the government for the way that I see it treating me. But what can i do... nothing. What will you do, nothing... That is because we know that the governments nature is the screw us, and that is what it is doing. And we all just have to sit here and take it up the ass.
