Head In The Clouds
Boy oh boy did I feel this rant brewing up in me like a storm! I just talked to a really stupid person on the phone. That’s right, they were stupid and slow and thick.
One,
Two,
Three!.
Now that should have given your innocent little minds enough time to process what I am saying and for you to say about me "why that’s not fair to say to anyone", if you are saying that by the way, consider the irony that you are judging me because I am judging someone else.
This however is my rant topic for today. Stupid slow people! Not slow as in Forest Gump slow, I mean slow as "quick! Help!" and someone turns around with a big smile on there face and says "... hmm ... did you say something... to?" before they realise that the person is no longer there, they have plunged to their death or something.
You see there is something that bothers me a lot I have complained to some people about other people being "slow" or "stupid" or "why won’t they HURRY THE HELL UUUUUPPPPPPP!" and you know what answer I got
"Ah sure they are just a little ditzy!"
Or
"Ah she is alright, it just that his head is in the clouds most of the time!"
Dudes! Not good enough. Imagine the scenario were this attitude followed through by everyone:
Parent "My child was run over by an 18 wheeler lorry! the baby sitter didn’t see it happening, she was staring into the sky!"
Concerned Busy Body "Ah sure, that’s her for ya! Always with the clouds! ha ha ha!"
Parent "Ha ha ha! your right there!"
So what are we meant to do? Screen people and judge them on their previous actions. Remember things that people do and very necessarily hold all the bad things against them? Although if we did do this we really should remember the good things people do and hold this to their credit, and in general I think most people do more good than bad so you will end up seeing people overall in the positive.
But even if you do take the above approach, then you will still end up weeding out the absent minded folk from the more, shall we say, 'with it' folk. Now, I know that it seems like I am pointing fingers here and saying that if they are kind of ditzy that they should not be trusted with certain job and responsibilities, well, I am. I’m glad you understand what I am saying.
What gets me is that if I started mouthing off someone like Saddam Hussein or Adolf Hitler people would nod knowingly and agree with me. But if I started mouthing off someone because of something absent minded that they did I would be told something like, "look, that is just the way they are". Come on! Who do you think you’re talking to? You think I can’t see the bigger picture here.
Here is what I mean. Let’s say someone does something like put a saucepan on the stove and the water boils out and eventually burns the ass out of the saucepan. Now, this is a mistake, but aren’t there some people that are renowned for their ‘mistakes’. For always being late. For letting you down in the last second. Sometimes you see some total botch happening and you’d think to yourself, "that’s the kind of thing this person would do."
I have seen this with some people and I have complained about them to others (I know I know, remember the saying the Feringi had in Star trek (The bigger the smile the bigger the knife!) and I was told, "they were always like that, they were always kind of absent minded". Well couldn’t you say that about a man who picks fights every night he goes out and has a drink "ah sure, he was always like that! Sure when he was a child he used to beat the dog around the place, now he beats other people around the place."
Not good enough!.
Of course people are going to say "there is a huge difference between a bully and someone who is totally absent minded but innocent and never directly physically damages anyone". I agree, but you miss the point here if you are saying that. What I am saying is that when you look at the actions of people, the mistakes and wrong doings and not judge them on a scale of 1 to 10 or anything, just look at them all as wrong doings, then you start to see what I am talking about.
I know that if someone gave you a smack in the face you would always remember it, but if someone burnt your saucepan once you would eventually forget it. But what happens if someone you can’t walk away from and leave, or hang up on, or order to go away is always, ALWAYS botching up in small way? Come on, you know what I mean? you must know someone like that.
Would you sooner take the smack in the mouth and have a life free of people being late, mishaps that affect you even though it’s not your fault and the saucepans the burning saucepans!
Here is really my point, my thoughts having distilled through over 900 words babble rant. In general I don’t care when people are ditzy, make silly mistake, or are one beer short of a 6 pack so to speak. But when I am forced to have to deal with these people, sometime, it can get annoying.

But now we're on the subject I can relate to your problem. I wont even use the word ditzy as that makes it an endeering feature I call them dumbfucks or stoners. Recently on our little film project we had an issue where a ditzy person kept botching up costing us time money and embarassment, everyone accepts this of the person who shall remain anonymous, to me they are just a fuck up plain and simple. I hear your hatred of the justification of this kind of behaviour, imagine if some guy in sellafield does a homer and causes a meltdown because he wasnt watching the dials as he is absent minded. Or the surgeon who was checking out the nurse while cutting an artery by mistake ooops, mammys dead but you have to admit that nurse is hot hyuk hyuk! Recently I was photographing a singer called nina hynes I met her during her soundcheck, the sound engineers were pulling their hair out cos she wouldnt decide on a set list, she decides to make it up five minutes before going on, ditzy spacey lady. I asked her if she would mind if i float about getting shots of her soundchecking, she said thats fine but have you wings? How can you float without wings. Her wackiness for me was nice as she is an entertainer and am sure she will never have her finger on the button in the white house so I can sleep at night. Ask the sound engineers and they will tell you something different as she fucked up their night and gave them a 4 hour nightmare panic.
Ditzy people are like zombies grand as long as they stay the fuck away from me preferably underground in a military experiment cave type thing or abandoned shopping centres.
As for the people making special cases for some people I hate that too recently a prominent local multi millionaire who goes nuts on drink, talking to you one minute and putting a glass in your face the next, was being a nuisance in a hotel the manager sat with him and coaxed him up to his room as he was abusing people in the bar. He later drove his suv home bolloxed. Had he being wearing a tracksuit the management would have had the gardai on him as he would be classified as a scumbag causing trouble, I spoke to the asst manager later she told me the boss's attitude is a well thats just the way he is he goes mad on drink, hes a nice fella. A spades a spade if you ask me.In your rants case a spanners a spanner.
