> ===== City Biking Around the Oedo Subway Line in Tokyo - May 4th, 2001 =====

> This was my first road cycling tour of Tokyo city, since the majority of the biking I did before was just for shopping, to the barber shop, or just to explore my neighborhood. My colleague Migiwa-san was kind enough to invite on this biking trip with her friends, some of whom she went to school with. It was also my first Golden Week here in Japan, which meant the week had 3 days of holidays and we had to work only 2 days! We started in the morning at 8:30, and I got home around 9:30 pm, after a great dinner with 99 yen beer and after about 50 km of riding. It was great to see the city above ground, as most of my traveling and commuting is done in the subway system.

In the morning we met her friends in Shinjuku, the business district, and here we are in front of an office tower. Here all we are with our bikes. Migiwa-san & me.

Here we are in front of a shrine which is known for political controvery because it is a memorial for Japan's war dead and even war criminals and when government officials go to pay their respect there, it irks countries like China and Korea. That's about all the history I know, but I know this is a great photo. This is the group from another angle.
