2. Go over all of the webpages carefully and make sure that you understand all requirements and scheduling for the class.
3. Read "Introduction to SPSS and the General Social Survey" at the end of Chapter 1.
4. Read Appendix F at the back of your textbook. Install the SPSS program that came with your book. Insert the data disk that also came with your book, and then work your way through Appendix F following all of the instructions.
5. Read the lecture linked below. It is important for your success in this course that you come to class prepared having read through the lectures several times before we discuss the material in class.
Basic Mathematics Review (Lecture on Prologue)
6. In your textbook, read the Prologue H (Basic Mathematics Review) in the front of your textbook. Do all of the exercises at the end of the Prologue. The answers are at the end of the exercise. There are a few mistakes in the answer key. The correct answer to 4a) is 17.18, and the correct answer to 4e) is 32.48. If you can do this exercise successfully, you will have all the math skills you will need for the entire course!
