Police Report:
Defendant arrested in his home, without resistance, on the complaint of Roman J. Grozka, 165 Wallace Avenue. Complainant alleged that Federico, on May 16, was driving his truck at an extremely slow speed on the 500 block of Purvis Avenue and that he (Grozka) honked to speed him up. Federico then stopped his truck. Grozka went over to talk to him. Complainant stated that assailant jumped out of his truck swinging a tire iron, which hit him on the arm, and nearly smashed his skull. Brother, John Grozka, a passenger in the complainant�s car, rescued him by pulling him away from Federico and getting him back in the car. Federico then drove away. Ramon Grozka reported the license number of Federico�s truck and a physical description matching Federico when he filed the complaint. Grozka stated he had never seen his assailant before.
At the time of arrest, Federico was confused about the situation and too excited to speak coherent English. The only understandable statements were ethnic slurs against Grozka.
Bail: $2,000. Defendant could not make bail. He has awaited trial in the county jail for five months.

Police Report:
On information from an informant that Johnson had been involved in several burglaries, Detectives Ryan and Selznick arrested Johnson at the Stoplight Tavern, 2472 East Third St. The defendant was unwilling to be handcuffed and force was required to subdue him. The detectives then warned Johnson of his rights and accompanied him to his residence. In a search of his residence, the following items, previously reported stolen, were found: 3 TVs, one phonograph, and one S&W 32 caliber revolver (estimated total value--$875). The items have been positively identified as goods from three separate complaints of breaking and entering while owner absent. A tool chest was also found.

Police Report:
Officers Hayes and Sullivan responded to a reported accident at the intersection of Highway 27 and Park Street. They found Mrs. Erikson behind the wheel of a car that had struck a tree. Two children, later identified as those of the defendant, were found unconscious on the front seat. Officers summoned an ambulance and took all three to Metropolitan Hospital. No other cars appeared to be involved in the accident.
While waiting for the ambulance, the defendant stated that she had not exceeded the speed limit; she had swerved to avoid an oncoming car in her lane and hit the tree. Her speech was slurred, she appeared unstable on her feet, and her breath smelled of alcohol. At the hospital, Mrs. Erikson was given a breathelizer test that registered .18.
An eyewitness, Mrs. Sarah Leonard, of 125 Park Street, reported that she saw the Erikson car coming down Park Street swerving back and forth. The Erikson car then veered into the oncoming lane. A driver coming in the opposite direction honked his horn. Mrs. Erikson then swerved sharply across her own lane and went off the road, striking the tree. The driver of the other car did not stop.
One Erikson child (age 7) died of injuries fourteen hours after the accident. The other child suffered serious injuries. Mrs. Erikson suffered minor cuts and bruises.
Bail: $10,000. Defendant could not make bail and has waited trial one month in the county jail.

Police Report:
Police officers Fernandy and Rodrigo responded to a call from residents of 183 Pine Street that screaming was heard from apartment 14B. Upon entering the building, they found the door of the apartment ajar and saw a woman, later identified as Mary Lou Rice, lying on the floor. She was badly bruised and bleeding from what appeared to be stab wounds in the upper left chest and left arm.
Officer Fernandy summoned an ambulance. While awaiting its arrival, a statement was taken from the victim. She reported that she and the man with whom she had shared the apartment for a year, John Simmons, had been arguing. Simmons began to strike her, and she screamed. She alleged that Simmons took a knife from his picket, stabbed her several times, and fled. No knife was found at the scene. Miss Rice was taken to Metropolitan Hospital, treated for bruises and superficial puncture wounds and detained for observation
The officers continued to observe Simmons� apartment and arrested him, without resistance, when he returned two hours later. He claimed to have been out all night. He did not have a knife in his possession nor was there any blood on his clothes. His pants and shirt appeared to be recently purchased.
Bail: $25,000. Defendant could not make bail. He has awaited trial in the county jail for eleven months.

She was then requested to get out of the car and empty her pockets and handbag. She complied. Four marijuana cigarettes were found by Trooper Pinto inside a regular cigarette package. Trooper Harrison noticed white powder on the rear seat of the auto. Upon investigation, he located a plastic bag containing 13 ounces of heroin under the front seat. Defendant was then placed under arrest.

Police Report:
On June 14, at 10:15 a.m., Police Officer Roy Jenkins responded to a woman screaming on the 600 block of Spruce Street. He found Ms. Eleanor Spencer, 71, of 416 Spruce Street crying for assistance. Ms. Spencer reported that as she was walking on her way to shop, she was approached by a drunken man walking unsteadily toward her. As she attempted to pass him, he grabbed at her, tore her dress at the shoulder, struck her in the mouth, and took her handbag. He then knocked her down and ran off with the bag. Ms. Spencer had just cashed her social security check and $90 in cash was in the bag.
As Police Officer Jenkins escorted Ms. Spencer to the precinct house, they passed 801 Spruce Street. Ms. Spencer identified the defendant, who was sitting in the doorway of the building as her assailant. The defendant was intoxicated. He was taken to the police station where $85 in cash was found in his possession.

Police Report:
Ms. Edna Scott of 127 South Edwards Street, registered a complaint at 5:30 a.m. of June 16, that her daughter, Diane Scott, age 15 had been raped. She reported to Officers Morgan and Cummings that her daughter had come home at 5:00 a.m. of that morning and indicated that she had been raped by Charles Davis. Diane told the officers that she had first met Davis the evening previous at the Uptown Bowling Alley. She had accompanied Davis to his apartment at 11:00 p.m. and when she resisted his interest in having sexual intercourse, he took a pistol from his dresser and ordered her to have sexual relations with him on the threat of death. She consented under the threat and left the apartment when Davis was asleep.
An immediate physical examination of the victim by police physician Dr. McConnell confirmed that she had had recent sexual intercourse. Officers Morgan and Cummings arrested Davis at his apartment that afternoon. A .22 caliber pistol was found in his dresser drawer.
Bail: $10,000. Defendant could not make bail and has awaited trial one month.
