The Keepers Of The Music

The Keepers Of The Music is a rather eclectic band formed on January 12th, 2001, at 1:31pm GMT. It consists of two young prodigies: the infamous Liz Larabell, homework-shirker, net junkie and insane yearbook
slave type, and the angelic, sweetfaced even-tempered Sarahjane Bell (butter wouldn't melt). Despite the differences which would have made band-forming unthinkable for lesser beings, including the fairly large distance between the members (think, California and New Zealand) and the complete lack of musicality on the part of the Kiwi contingent, these young genii have proven just how much two right-thinking, Donmcleaniacal teenagers can achieve. The inability to record music together only enhances the wondrousness of their having a band at all.

In The Beginning

We really have no idea how it all started. Honestly, we were just innocently post-tagging, and there came the idea. Magic. Like a flame in the rain... (Shut up, Liz.) Of course, that was the night SJ recommended that I download the DM songs Sea Man and and Wonderful Night, so I was beyond whacky with glee. I dunno what SJ's excuse for such a creative idea was, so she'll just have to give her account next. I think we agreed I'd sing and she'd be percussion, since I have no rhythm whatsoever and she can't (according to her) carry a tune. We'll both maintain the site (with any luck) and come up with lyrics, etc. Hee hee.  Well, I'm almost at the end of my allotted paragraph. I dunno who's going to do the instrumentation, though, 'cause I'm just now learning (at a very slow pace, with all this other stuff going on!) the guitar, and SJ's a failure as a violinist...HMM...

However, these were not the only obstacles that stood in the pathway to fame for these struggling young artists. The murky beginnings of the band, and the present lack of memory as to how it began, pale in significance when certain other difficulties are considered. The beauty of the band, Sarahjane, was, alas, not the natural vocalist, and thus she early began to develop an inferiority complex, strangely uncomforted by the fact that she was not only able to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on both the violin and the recorder, but was, uncontestably, a genius at banging tin pots together in an unusually rhymical fashion. Liz, however, confident in her stunning vocal performance, took up learning the guitar and quickly came to the fore as the most musical member of the KOTM. Then, Sarahjane discovered a talent she had for bashing her hairbrush against the computer quite accidentally when doing random violence on appliances as is her wont, and this refilled her with enthusiasm for percussion. Now, as the KOTM move into the new millennium, they are passing from the insecurities and uncertainities of the early stages of their career into the height of their fame, as tens of people come to this site each week to find out the latest about their musical inspiration. The KOTM have even formed vague plans to actually make some music in the course of the next decade. Who knows what this most radical and avant-garde band will do next?

I do I do I do!!! We're gonna translate all of Don McLean's songs into other languages!!! This is for several reasons, really, and practical ones at that: a) We desperately need to improve our lingual skills because schools in California and New Zealand teach nothing; b) We want the work of DM to spread throughout the world, and so those Frenchmen won't have to keep wondering why they're singing about American pie (though even we English speakers don't know that); c) We have no lives and consider this sort of thing to be incredibly fun; and d) We want to show off the incredible talents we've acquired with no thanks to our language instructors. Unfortunately for all my fans, I will only be doing the Spanish stuff for now (because US schools are too self-righteous to teach students more than one language, beginning in middle school). Later I will begin to attempt Italian. SJ, on the other hand, being the little language scholar that she is, will be doing the French, German, and Latin translations. :) Have fun, buddy.

That's a brilliant idea Lizzy! This is where I begin to regret boasting about my foreign language skills... oh man.
