My Spiritual Beliefs
My father was a Roman Catholic, and I was baptized in the Catholic Church.  But my mother was a Lutheran, and she saw to it that her children received instruction and confirmation in the Lutheran Church.  Now, to some extent, the Lutherans villified Catholics, yet my paternal grandparents and many of my aunts, uncles and cousins were Catholics, and they seemed like perfectly good people to me.

In  high school, many of my classmates and school friends were Jewish.  They also seemed like perfectly good people to me, and I couldn't see why they needed to deny the religion of their parents and accept Jesus as their savior in order to avoid being punished in Hell forever by our loving Father.

So, through my latter high school years and through my university years, I went through periods of atheism, agnosticism and variations of spiritual faith.
Eventually, through much reading, thought and discussion, I came to forge a faith for myself based on what seems both reasonable and spiritually comforting to me.  By far the strongest influence on my current spiritual belief has been Joseph Campbell, particularly his televised lectures and interviews with Bill Moyers.
