The other side of the RR Room. "Man does not live by trains alone."

The "main" portion of the layout. It fills one half of my recreation room in the basement, and is about 11 x 14 feet. The "mainline is basically a simple "folded dogbone. the double track "loop" in the foreground is the Trolley line. The lower right hand section, where you see "black" benchwork is a removable module, part of the "Cream City Traction Club" layout.
To the right of the area shown at left is what will be my "downtown" area. This is inside one of the "dogbone" loops.
Across the aisle from the main layout is the stub-end yard. This view is facing the opposite direction from the picture at the upper left corner of the page. Just below the foreground, between the yard and "downtown" is a small engine facility.
"Sven Larsen Lutefiske" as one of only three prototypes of a resin kit that was going to be offered commercially, but as yet hasn't been. Maybe someday. The decal was made for me by "Master Gizmologist" Jason Davies of rec.models.railroad fame, and the producer of the prototype kits. It's a takeoff on the "Haggis" list. (Sort of an "in joke" among model railroaders on usenet). Not shown in the photo, the building across the street is "Lars Svenson Stomache Remedies"
The new fords are out, but we like that '53 better. The billboard was found on the interenet, a good source for signs and graphics to "date" your railroad, and bring it to life.
2400 HP of best Beloit opposed piston power hauling "black diamonds" which will eventually become electricity for the Trolley line <G>. The crossover just along side the locomotive makes one end of the layout a "reversing loop", so trains run to and from the yard in an "out and back" operating scheme.

Another view of Sven's. This is actually on the "modular" part of the layout.
