Here are some pics of my '73 (more or less) CJ5. The frame, tub and 304 V8 are the only things on it that are stock.

A few specs:

  • Custom home-built 4 link suspension, 2" BDS TJ springs in front, BDS 3" springs in the rear.
  • Fully rebuilt both axles, welded spiders in the rear, Lock Right in the front, MileMarker hubs and Superior shafts
  • Wheelbase is stretched to 93"
  • AGR complete steering system, complete with hydraulic assist Rock Ram (I won it in a raffle!)...Thanks AGR!
  • 4 wheel disk brakes, '68 Corvette master cylinder.
  • rebuilt NP435 tranny out of a '74 Ford 3/4 ton
  • rebuilt Dana 300 transfer case--'83 Jeep with twinstick
  • Megasquirt electronic TBI fuel injection (GM throttle body, 40lb injectors) and Pertronix electronic ignition.
  • full cage with the seats/seatbelts attached to the frame.
  • Fully rewired, new wiring harness.
  • 36 x 13.5 Interco Iroks on 15x10 Bart wheels (2" backset for that widetrack feel!)
  • Warn M8000 winch
  • It's fully street legal...I got the safety inspection sticker on it, although sometimes I have to hit the windshield wiper motor to make it work.

    Someday I may do some writeups on the mods I've done, the suspension, fuel injection, etc. At this point it's all in a notebook written in my henscratch.
