    Pegasus met Cyndia when they were 10 years old at a big party. Pegasus went with his father and Cyndia was the daughter of one of Pegasus' father's friends. They liked each other right away and became friends. Pegasus shared his dreams of becoming a famous artist and traveling the world with her, and she seemed to share the same dreams. (To quote the manga, they had the same dreams/desires) They fell in love, but when Cyndia was 17, she died of (to again quote the manga) an incurable disease. Pegasus couldn't do his artwork for a long while after that. He went to Egypt to try to find answers to their beliefs in an afterlife. While there, he saw a man being chased by a group of men. He offered money to them for the man's release, but they would'nt take it. Shadi was the leader of these men, and he told Pegasus to leave the village, that he wouldn't find his friend (Cyndia) or an easing of his his pain there. Pegasus was curious about Shadi since he knew about his loss of Cyndia, so he followed him and his men, who still had the captured man. They went into a temple, where the man was forced to wear what he'd stolen, the Millenium Ring, to be tested for acceptance by it. The man was stabbed and burned alive. Then Pegasus was spotted by Shadi's men and grabbed. Shadi wanted to try the Millenium Eye on Pegasus. He would meet his love again for a moment if he was accepted by the Eye. When his left eye was cut out and replaced with the Millenium Eye, and he saw Cyndia again for a moment.
     In Egypt, apparently Pegasus discovered tablets with pictures of the ancient game of Duel Monsters. He made a modern adaption of the game which became very famous.
     In the 7 years since Cyndia's death and the time he met Yugi, Pegasus had become a bitter man. His obsession led him to make a deal with the Big 5, in an attempt to steal Kaiba Corp from Seto and Mokuba. He wanted their Duel Disc technology in order to make a life-like hologram of Cyndia. Part of the deal included his beating Yugi in a duel, so Kaiba Corp's honor would be restored after Seto's loss to Yugi. This was the reason Pegasus kidnapped Yugi's grandfather's soul, and holding the Duelist Kingdom Tournament.
     Pegasus' Millenium Eye enables him to read minds and steal souls. In the manga he also unfortunatly used it to kill Bandit Keith with Game Punishment.
     After Yugi defeated Pegasus in their duel, Yami Bakura removed the Millenium Eye from Pegasus. His current status is unknown.
