So you want a "band" story... OK, you see this crazy guy from NY (D-O-E, who thinks he's haunted by his long lost twin brother) met this other crazy guy from CA (Techmage, who thinks he's really an alien). They met through the internet, like the start of so many beautiful relationships. But they're not gay (just for clarification). They started writing songs together, piecing together tracks over the internet in a recording method that most people wouldn't even think of. And the guy from Cali, he has a sister (Jinre, who is hot) who can sing. So she joined the project, and it was given a name... Domino Effect. After a while recording over the internet became a pain in the ass. So D-O-E dumped his girlfriend, quit his job, and moved out to CA. The trio recorded a CD called FUCK POP - a hip hop inspired electronic mix of rap, industrial, metal, and strangely enough pop. Using Techmage's ghetto but effecient methods of mass production and distribution, DE got their demos into the hands of many in the El Dorado County/Sacramento area. This landed them a summer full of live shows (which btw is definitely something you need to see before you die). Come September 2003, D-O-E had to go back home 'cuz of some bullshit. Techmage came out to NY for the annual Syko Halloween, and blough! another CD was made. This time without Jinre, and with a much broader range of styles and emotion in the music. It's an EP-length disc called "It's Official, We've Lost Our F**king Minds." The craziest rap/industrial/horrorcore/trip hop/gothic concoction that could be squeezed into 34 minutes or so. It's truly amazing that Tech & D-O-E wrote, recorded, and produced this CD by themselves in less than 2 weeks. It was released in December 2003. And that's pretty much where we're at in the story. Now it's 2004, and Domino Effect is looking for airplay and distribution of their new CD. So be warned, if the insanity of DE hasn't invaded your town just yet, it should be arriving shortly. Once the first falls, there's no stopping the rest. You can try to resist, but you WILL be knocked down... it's all part of the Domino Effect. |
