When Dominic was born I knew by his color that something was wrong. I knew before he was born, I kept yelling at everyone even the doctor that something was wrong. I knew there was. But I was told that nothing was wrong, that everything was fine. When my son was laighed on my stomach he was a bluish grey and I knew that wasnt right but no one believed me... The dr. and nurses said it was normal... So i overlooked it. Now maybe I should have continued to press the fact that I knew something was wrong. Those first few hours I knew that something wasnt right. But I was told it was. Dominic just didnt seem to act like a normal baby. He didnt eat like a normal baby, my other three kids had eaten better and more. He only ate a little before falling asleep and he didnt eat very often. I had to wake him to get him to eat, he didnt wake himself to eat.

Dominic didnt have normal eating habits and he always slept....
After his first bath he didnt look so blue but he still didnt look totally normal. He didnt have any noticable defects but i knew something wasn't right. Still after all his differences I loved my little boy, and the dr had said he was fine so I started believing I was imagining that it wasnt right. I tried to sleep that night but couldnt, I stayed awake watching my little boy sleep. He slept so long, and the nurse came to take him to get his hearing test and i still got anxious cause I couldnt watch him while he was out. When he got back I unbundled him just to look at him to make sure he was ok. That first night I was uneasy. And It didnt change for awhile.

Dominic went to the dr often as a young baby, and to the local E.R. They all said the same thing he was fine. He has gone to several dr's and had multiple tests done and nothing. Then finally it took a PA to notice that he went blue and decide to send us to the Valley Childrens E.R. to be checked out and admitted. She knew something was wrong. So finally Someone was listening to me. Finally someone believed what I had known for so long. That was 11-19-2004. After spending 5 days in the hospital Dominic was sentt home to finish healing and to get ready to have surgery. We finally knew what was wrong and now we had to learn more about our son and his unique heart. So we did just that. We also talked to our Pastor and had our son put on the prayer chain and started preparing for the day that would eventually come. Dominic did get well after he got home and then he got sick again and finally shortly after his surgery consult on 12-28-04 he was well again. Now that we seem to be healthy we are getting ready to go to the hospital to prep for surgery on the 12th. He will have his surgery on January 13, 2005.
