Aim->What is Writing in the 21st Century?

“Act as if what you do makes a difference, it does.”-William James

I agree in that a person can make a difference because ones thoughts can trigger’s another’s mind and form into a group of people thinking the same way. By voicing out your opinion your telling others who think the same way that there are people out in the world who share the same ideas. By not expressing you ideas you’re holding back and by ignoring the problem you becoming part of it. Imagine if Martin Luther King just let segregation and discrimination go on, the world wouldn’t have been how it is now. There has to be a leader. Being a follower doesn’t make you stand out and certainly doesn’t make you an individual who’s entitled to their own ideas.

Aim->what do we do to find happiness?

To find happiness I try to stay true to myself and to my morals. I try to do what’s right even though I don’t want to. I also try not to deal with other peoples problems and fix my own. I also depend on some foods like ice cream and others sweets. On the other hand, keeping myself in shape is top priority. Appearance is everything and even though some may think that they don’t care about what other people think of them they do. I always make sure I look presentable no matter the day or time. I also manage my time with people I care about although I like being by myself 80% of the time. Other things I do is shop. I’m not a materialistic person but when I go shopping even the smallest little things that stand out I like to buy.

Aim->What problems is faced in school?

The things some people face in this school is assimilation.  Some people find it wrong and some people find it right. Some view it as betrayal and some “the way of life”. In my opinion I find it wrong. Assimilation is viewed in the dictionary as “process whereby a minority group gradually adopts the customs and attitudes of the prevailing culture.” I think that if you’re a certain ethnicity you should respect it enough to not deny it. Assimilating is like putting you culture and traditions aside and accepts another culture. Everyone is the world is different and from different countries so why would anyone want to be the same as everybody else? I understand if there are certain things that have to be accepted of other cultures but it’s not right to completely put your own aside.

My topic today is the conditions some kids need to go to school in.  Here in Port Washington we are very fortunate to be able to get such a good education and good educational programs to help those who are having trouble. A lot of countries can’t afford to make their schools better for children. Many Spanish countries are illiterate due to not having enough money for a proper education. The public schools are horrible in Hispanic countries. Most of them are little shacks and don’t have air-conditioning or books.  Transportation is also an issue in that parents don’t have enough money to provide children with buses so they have to walk several miles back and forth. Not only that after having to be through those gruesome conditions you go home to work an make money for the rest of your family.
