APOAASD History
Alpha Phi Omega has a long tradition of Leadership, Friendship, and Service - the international service fraternity and sorority's three cardinal principles. Service is particularly emphasized. In its 75-year history APO founded on December 16, 1925, in Easton Pennsylvania, U.S.A. has rendered every imaginable kind of voluntary assistance under its four-fold program of service.
After college, the actives become alumni and alumnae and seek to belong to associations. One of these is the Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines) Alumni Association of San Diego. Organized in February 1993, the Alumni Association of San Diego County has continued to volunteer time, effort, and resources in the name of APO'S long tradition of Leadership, Friendship, and Service.
In the short years of existence of the Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines) Alumni Association of San Diego, members have shown Leadership in their individual field of specialization, be it accounting, computers, dentistry, engineering, nursing, in private or government sector, manufacturing or service industries, production, sale, carpentry, masonry or use of goods. Majority of the members are Active and Retired Military.
The APO Friendship circle is ever expanding. Through the years, more and more alumni and alumnea become active again in the APO program. Areas with alumni association include Greater Los Angeles(Los Angeles), Northern California(San Francisco), Silicon Valley and the Bay Area(San Francisco), Washington(Seattle), Midwest(Chicago), Texas(Houston), Florida, Toronto, Canada, and Montreal Canada. These alumni associations have formed an umbrella organization called the Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines) Alumni Council of North America.
