wtf?! a non-anime item? Haha, yeah. Even though I'm yet to post it on eBay, I intend to be selling my violin shortly. I'm really gonna miss it, but the truth is that I don't play it all that much anymore and I don't see myself ever forgetting how to play, so there's no loss in selling it. Not to mention the bonus cash would be nice.
I started to enlist it on eBay, but I stopped short in my tracks when I realized that I knew virtually nothing about the instrument in terms of who made it, where it came from, the condition, etc. Things you need to know if you want to sell on eBay. So this morning I took it to the violin shop and inquired from a pro... Here's what I wrote down.
It's a German model called "Hoff". He estimated that it was somewhere between 85 to 100 years old. At one time, it did have some cracks in the exterior but they were sealed shut and the surface of the violin was refinished with polyurathane (he informed me this wasn't the best material to refinish with, but it wasn't all that bad) It's a fullsize violin, 4/4 and my particular model was the preferred choice among German students studying string instruments. More expensive than the ever popular chinese model due to exchange rates, he projected that it sold for $300.
Oh, and the case was imported from Shanghai. :p
