On doing his impersonations:
"I did Pete Jackson, Orlando, Elijah, Viggo, Billy, Ian McKellan. But the best one I did is Karin Shah, Elijah's stunt double. I impersonated his voice and called the producers pretending to be him, and Pete loved it."

On the Fellowship's tatoos:
"We all had such a great time together, and we wanted something to remember the experience. At first, we talked about a ring, and then we got on to the tatoo. It became a group project. We rang up this guy who had a tatoo parlor that was closed on Sunday--our only day off--so we convinced him to open for us, and we had a real party, taking photos of each other and everything."

On the Hobbits:
"We're brother, you know, I was thinking about this a few days ago. I was having a shave and I was thinking about the boys. I'm kind of a believer in reincarnation and that stuff, and I feel I cannot have made these friendships by chance. I feel we've met each other before and it was our destiny to come together, like it's destiny of the characters to come together. I have a brother, and these are are close to me as any brother could be. We laughed and we cried and we went through hell together. But, we also had some incredibly funny times. Hobbits are very positive people, and that's how we behaved on set. We tried to bring people up and make them feel good, because that's what Hobbits are like. It was an incredible experience. It changed all of us. It was like being in the Beatles, you know."

On the Fellowship:
"Well we're just brothers you know. I have one real brother, but I have nine people who I would call my brothers. We spent about 15 hours a day, 7 days a week with each other. We fought and we laughed and we cried and we went through every single level of emotion. You are doing things that we will never do with anyone ever again. We flew into storms in planes and having to land in airports at three in the morning and going up in helicopters, flying over whales and dolphins, and bungee jumping and surfing. It was life experiences. We all just became very close and relied on each other for support. It's strange because if you imagined that you were working with these people six days a week you would have thought that on your one day off you would say I'll see you tomorrow, go home and watch movies, but we wouldn't. We'd all go for breakfast together, we all would go out. Ever since finishing-it's been a year-I speak to one of the guys at least every other day. I know where they all are and where they are working so that in itself was a reason to do the movie."

On being a hobbit:
"I won't miss having to stand for two hours at 4:30am and having freezing cold glue applied to my feet. I won't miss two-hour drives to work or long, long days sitting in my trailer waiting...waiting..waiting. I won't miss glue in my ears. But I would do it all again tomorrow."

A journal entry:
"Queenstown's flooded, which means that the river scenes may never be shot. Viggo rang this morning and asked it I wanted to go fishing. I said, "Why don't you just throw your rod out the window?" The water is about three feet high outside the reception area. Drove to arrowtown with Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood and played cops and robbers in the forest. Also, Billy Boyd and I went around to six vineyards a day. Not a good idea."

On being cast:
"My initial reaction to being cast as Merry was one of silent wide smiling reflection for a couple of minutes, and then a huge rush of adrenaline, and I have to confess a small amount of alcohol intake."

Showing his humour:
"Talk to me or I will cancel the internet."

"Funnier than a penguin playing a banjo."

"I'd love to play a gangster but I think people might say I looked a bit too young and cheeky to play a character who'd just blown someone's head off!"

On Tig:
"So we would play. The three of us[Dom, Sean, and Billy] would constantly get it right. Everything Elijah tried a new way of tigging someone, we'd say. "No Elijah, you can't tig on a tog" "You can't tag on a tig" "You have to do an elephant impression if you're gonna tig Billy and if Billy's gonna tig you back you have to get on your knees and take your trousers down"...and for like 3 weeks he[Elijah] was saying how much he enjoyed playing Tig."

About Elijah:
"Elijah's a cool guy. I think the thing that linked Elijah and I together was that we have an intense geek-like love for music. We can both sit around and talk for hour and hour about Coldplay, Eminem, and Radiohead."

About Billy Elliot:
"I bawled my eyes out to Billy Elliot last week and Lighe(Elijah) and I are gonna watch it again tonight. So I will keep you informed on the Wood waterworks."

On his home:
"I like to have a tidy kitchen, but I'm not too bother about my room or living room, etc. My theory is that when it's untidy I feel comfortable, like it feels lived in, and its only gonna get untidy if you tidy it so wait, wait, wait."

On diaries:
"If my house caught on fire I would save myself and anyone in there and I would try and save all the diaries and letters that I have collected, as everything else is replaceable. And I would sit on the lawn, watching my house burn cherry red, and record it in my diary."

His dislikes:
"Racism, sexism, homophobia, ignorance. I am irritated by all these things a lot. Also having no beer in the fridge and losing a girls number that you really liked."

On Merry and Pippin:
"There's a scene where Merry and Pippin find Saruman's larder, which is filled with basically a Hobbit's paradise of chicken, apples, sausages and beer. Merry and Pippin nearly have an orgasm looking at it and go mental."

On Billy Boyd:
"That's my Billy. He's so charming-it's like he can do no wrong."

On himself:
"I'm still the same sort of person who, when he's in the pub, let's everyone know he's in the pub."

On Peter Jackson:
"We work so well with Peter Jackson because Pete understand Hobbits so well. Because he is a hobbit. He has so many Hobbit qualities to him."

On meeting new people:
"I find it odd to go to the cinema first cause you get no chance to interact and see if you like the person and if it goes well then a drunken evening is always a good way to gel quickly."

"Having an understanding, unspoken, with another animal is something else."

"He's trying to kill me, that guy."

"It's my birthday today. Give me one of these CDs."

"We only sing if we're paid for that."

Our Favourite Quotes:
"I mean, look at me, come on. This kid's on fire!"

"It's not just my tongue that's bad. My spleen once stole one hundred dollars from a 7/11."
