Dear Birthparents, |
|
|
|
Hello, we are glad that you have found us. We admire your courage and compassion in considering adoption for your expected child. This is a hard time for you and we wish you all the strength in making this difficult decision. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Our hope is that it will give you an idea of who we are. If you choose us as the adoptive parents for your child, you will be helping us realize our dream of having two children in our lives. |

Angie is 30 and Dan is 34. We have been married for nine years and have known each other for over eleven. We met through mutual friends that were dating at the time. We instantly hit it off and became best friends. We enjoy doing everything together. We enjoy traveling, visiting amusement parks, dining out, and camping. One of our favorite things is going to the movies. |

Joshua was born in July of 2001 and we are truly blessed to be part of his life. He has a very friendly personality and everyone enjoys being around him. He is very smart and imaginative. He really enjoys when Angie takes him to story time at our library and is always having us read stories to him. He also likes to have Dan tell him stories about dragons. He always wants to help us around the house. He helps Angie with cooking and cleaning. He also really enjoys helping Dan take care of the yard and building things. His favorite thing is dressing up like Spiderman and playing around the house. During the summer he enjoys swimming, playing outside and going to carnivals. In the winter time he enjoys playing in the snow, sled riding, going Ice skating and looking at all the Christmas lights. He is currently attending preschool and is enjoying making new friends. |

We live in a small town in the northern part of Nevada where Dan is an operator for the local power company. He has been employed with them for thirteen years. Angie is a homemaker and stay-at-home mommy. Our home has a fenced in yard and provides lots of room for Joshua and our dogs to play. Dan also built a tree house in the backyard for Joshua. |

We have a beagle named Tia. She is very gentle around the kids as they roll around playing with her. We also have two Italian greyhounds, Buddy and Gracie. Buddy loves to cuddle, he will wiggle in close to us when we are sitting on the couch. Gracie likes to get up in our laps and give lots of kisses. |

Together we have an extremely large family. Dan is the fifth of six siblings. All of them live near us, as does his parents. Angie is the oldest of 4 siblings. Her younger sisters are still at home with her parents, which also live in the same area as us. Together we have 19 nieces and nephews ranging in ages from 1 to 19 years. We are always getting together for dinners and birthday parties. There is not a month that goes by that someone is not celebrating a birthday. Holidays are really fun because we get together and plan a day when we can all be there. When everyone is at Dan's parents home there are over 20 people, which can fill up a house in a hurry. And of course we celebrate the holidays with Angie's family also, which means two dinners, sometimes on the same day. The best thing about our families is that you can always count on someone being there for you no matter what. |

We have always known that we would have to turn to adoption to complete our family. Angie is unable to carry a baby to term. We have talked with both of our families about our desire to adopt again. Everyone is very supportive and ready to help us welcome another child into our home. Joshua is also very excited and has even been picking out names for his brother or sister. |

We love being parents and all the experiences that go with it. Changing dirty diapers. Putting together presents on Christmas Eve. Answering the endless questions young minds are filled with. Reading bedtime stories and tucking them into bed. The first day of school as they enter the classroom for the very first time.Taking care of them when they are sick. Their first love and the heartbreak that is sure to follow. Getting their driver's license. Graduating from high school and going on to college. |

When we were looking into adoption for the first time we thought that a closed placement would be best. But after talking to several birthmothers and adoptees we quickly learned that open is by far the only way to go. We do have an open adoption with Joshua's birthmother. We exchange letters, cards, emails and pictures every few months. We also talk on the phone a few times each year. |

We would like to be involved in the pregnancy as much as possible. We would like to get to know the birthparents and have them get to know us. We were able to be in the delivery room when Joshua was born and it truly was a wonderful experience. Above everything we will respect the wishes of the birthparents. |
