| Some people may wonder why I have a page to Saint Brigid. Well, to me, she totally embodies everything that a woman from Ireland is. She is magical and mystical and slightly mysterious. At the same time she is earthy and a fighter. She stands up for everything that she believes in and yet can be soft and loving to all creatures; those that are human and those that are not. She is both from the time before recorded history in Ireland and she is of the time of Christianity. She was second only to St. Patrick in bring Christianity to Ireland. She is known to all as the "Mary of the Gaels". She is the patron saint of all Irish writers and for that and so many other reasons, I totally love her. I wear a St. Brigid's Cross to remember all of these things. Her eyes were always on God and her heart was always with those around her who were in need. A perfect example for all ages. |
