| Growing Buildings by Chelsea McDonald |

| "Hurry up Bernice! It's your day to water the buildings! They're starting to wilt a little in the upper East quadrant!" The worker called. Bernice quickly downed the last dregs of her coffee and ran out the door, a vine hanging from the ceiling brushing her construction helmet as she passed. It was 4:30 in the morning and the westside foilage construction company's day had just begun. It was their job to maintain the building's growth as well as prune unruly branches out of the way to keep the skyscraper's shape. Bernice's title was Junior Executive waterer and it was her job to water the buildings in the wee hours of the morning. This was an Incredibly crucial job because if the buildings wilted mid-afternoon, it would be a catastrophe. Bernice took a quick look off the balcony before she hurried down the stairs. Even though she had worked here for several years, the view was still breathtaking. It was a big city skyline, its green canopy reflecting the early morning's first rays of light. |
