Here you can learn all the terms, tips, and tricks to being a good and active member in your forum.

post- A message made by a member.
thread- A place where posts are. Has a topic!
moderator/mod- A person selected and entrusted by the admin to enforce the rules. These people can ban you!
global-moderator or super moderator- A person selected an entrusted by the admin to enforce the rules. They have all the power of a moderator, and a little more.
Administrator/admin- The creator and main person of the forum. He/she is someone you do not want to mess with. He/she has all of the power needed to run the forum.
spamming- Sending Pointless Annoying Messages stands for spam. This can relate to being off topic, flaming, and, in some forums, typing less than five words. Could ban you or give you an infraction.
flaming- No acronym for this one. Flaming is basically isulting someone. Not taken lightly, and could ban you, or get you an infraction.

Now, here are the different types of bans you can be given.

temporary ban- A ban that lasts a little while. It will not make you look good for the rest of your membership.
permanent ban- A ban that is permanent, and only the admin can unban the unlucky fellow with this type of ban. There is a slight chance of coming back, but you could always create a new account, which is not always a good thing.
IP ban- Worst type of ban you can get! It will ban you permanently, and prevent your computer from ever trying to join again! Some forums use this type of ban, but not all.

A good tip when on a forum is to have a large vocabulary. Speak like you're an old fart. Use excellent (or something like that) instad of good. Say "I have to go, I'll be back in a second." Instead of "i got 2 go, brb".

Going back to the "i got 2 go, brb," some of this sentence is port of an inevitable language known as chatspeak. It's a very common and foul language among forums, sort of known as online chat slang. Don't use it, whatever you do.

The use of certain words can be bad. Some of these words are allowed on forums, such as d***, a**, and crap. If you have to use any other words, PLEASE USE ASTERISKS. (*)
