Lumps in the Landscape
There are a couple of other similar structures in the English landscape
Heres the first its a flat topped man made hill in silbury, Wiltshire
Its called funnily enough Silbury hill
The other is Dragon hill and its very famous in English mythology as it supposedly is where St George the patron saint of England killed the dragon that had been threatening the community. They both date from the same period as the Nazca Inscription. 3200bce
The other similarity apart from the one thats staring you in the face is that these two structures are less than 20 miles apart.
And the second one forms a mount in front of the Uffington horse/dragon
But its not the only structure at Uffington from the same time period.
Heres a picture of Uffington castle a Neolithic hill fort. And here it is in relation to the horse and dragon hill.
A = dragon hill. B = white horse. C = Castle.
Do you know that if you draw a line through all three you end back at similar Silbury again? Less than 20 miles to the southeast. Heres another picture of it from the air
All these sites have something in common structurally. Theyre all built out of earth in a country that has no rock quarries or supplies of clay for bricks close to hand. In that way theyre similar to all the buildings in the first Chapter.
