Buildings
This is the biggest and best preserved of the legacy left behind by the Sumerians.
It is called the Ziggurat of Ur for that is the name of the immense ruined city that it now resides in. Built from a solid mud brick core it rises on several levels each getting smaller each time until you get to a temple situated on the top. It measures two hundred and ten feet by one hundred and fifty feet along the sides and rises to 65 feet from the ground.. It has slightly inward sloping walls which make it more solid and an outer covering of burnt bricks to protect it from the elements. Its also aligned to the four cardinal points of a compass.
The biggest stone pyramid in all of south America is the pyramid of the sun at Teotihuacan .It is almost seven hundred and fifty feet along each side and two hundred and thirteen feet tall. When it was discovered around the turn of the century the archaeologist that rebuilt it had to remove almostten meters of rubble from three sides of the building. So in ancient times it must have been a truly immense structure                Like many other pyramid type buildings it was constructed with a chamber built into the lowest level. In this case the chamber was a shrine and was partially formed by a cave in the bedrock upon which the pyramid stands
Caracol lies hidden in jungle in the southern part of Belize  It can only be reached by off road vehicle. The city area covers more than thirty square miles and includes five plazas, an observatory and a number of pyramids, the biggest of which is known as the sky palace . Its one hundred and thirty nine feet high and even today is the tallest building in belize. It is believed to have had a population of 200,000 in its heyday and had over thirty five thousand separate buildings
In Uxmal you find the famous pyramid of the magician. It was built in five separate phases and it along with the entire city in which it is built is aligned astronomically. Its one hundred feet tall and  a legend tells of Itzamana a famous magician who built the entire structure in twenty four hours. Its eastern side faces the sun on the summer solstice. That is a common feature of Mesoamerican pyramids.
The Tiahuanaco Ruins are continually in a state of restoration due to a lack of available funds. When it was first discovered  the Puma Pyramid was almost completely covered over with soil. Thesedays some of the walls have been excavated and there is a large hole in the top made by treasure seekers. Once again this pyramid faces the east..
The Pyramid of Inscriptions is the most interesting at Palenque. It is the tallest pyramid and contains the tomb of the most powerful Mayan priest Pacal, You have to climb the pyramid and descend a steep and narrow staircase (pictured later) from the top to get down to the tomb.  It is about a seventy five foot climb up the staircase.
The "Step Pyramid" in Saqquara. The oldest stone pyramid in the world built in approximately 2700bce it is shaped much like the older ziggurats found in ancient Mesopotamia  seventy eight metres square and fifty two and a half metres tall. It has a similarity in design to many other significant monuments from the ancient world in that it was built on top of an earlier structure..
This ancient and sacred Pyramid complex is called Caral. It wasnt even discovered until 1905 and then lay left, forgotten for decades until it was finally explored in 1994
Caral is a bit out of place in regards to orthodox science. It was known to have been occupied from before 3000bce which makes it a complete enigma. There were no builders of pyramids in s America in 3000bce
Allegedly..!
The Pyramid of Kukulcan in Chichen Itza is ninety feet high. In total amongst its four sides it has 365 steps the same number of days in a year.. The exterior of the building that we see today is another case of an old structure being rebuilt throughout its existence. An older more ancient temple lies buried beneath this one and it can still be accessed by a door at the bottom of the staircase on the North side..

See theyre all pretty similar in construction and design, which is strange seeing as totally different races living thousands of miles apart built them.
They all started off with a small temple or mastaba and then were built upon greatly until they became ziggurats or step pyramids. Even the famous pyramids on the Giza plateau started off as step pyramids and were then faced to make them smooth sided
The most dissimilar thing about all of these structures is that there seems to be no connection to whether theyre built with Rock or Clay Bricks. Except that in all cases they are built with the material thats closest to hand.. This is true of the new world sites as well as those in the old
