Gypsy of the World 2001, Style #28570

It's rare that I bash a Madame Alexander International doll in my possession. Gypsy of the World looked a lot cuter in her promo pictures; in person she's a mess. It must be that over-the-top dress; a spangly magenta top with stiff transparent purple sleeves and a purple velvet skirt, all fringed with thick gold loops. Red beaded ropes dangle from the waist; cheesy plastic stars are glued randomly to the skirt. Around her throat is a necklace of red plastic beads, which will stain the doll in no time flat. White cork-soled sandals are on her feet. Accessories include a scarf decorated with the sun, moon and stars, and a miniature pack of tarot cards. |
