Maybe it's the serious blue eyes beneath the straight brown brows; or perhaps it's the light mustache over the firm yet full lip. The slicked-back brown hair, streaked with dark blonde along the forehead, is cemented in place to a blunt cut at the nape of the neck.

The Waltz giftset could be the second in a series called Classic Dance, or some such, to follow the FAO Schawrz exclusive set Tango. However, despite the clear connection, Mattel released Tango and The Waltz as separate entities, neither part of each other nor any other series. The box-as-ballroom is quite similar to Tango's backdrop; only done in pinks and mauves rather than screaming chilipepper colors. I guess they were going for understated elegance for this set. The dolls inside are strapped within an inch of their vinyl lives in swirling arrested motion poses.

Barbie goes frothy in this sheer pink chiffon and charmeuse dress, thickly trimmed in marabou. Oversized sequins and pink beads are scattered over the bodice and sleeves. Her charms are accented with an incredibly long beaded necklace and pink crystal-like earring studs.

The blue eyes look appropriately dreamy; though the blue eyeshadow seems a little thick. Her lips are done in a pleasing deep purpley-rose. The pale blonde hair is braided back into a pink snood.
