Wooden effect flooring

I was shocked to see the wooden floors available for dolls houses in my local supplier.  You can generally either buy paper which is somehow supposed to represent wood - but i'll tell you this much -

THEY DIDN'T FOOL ME FOR A SECOND!

The other alternative is to spend at least 10 for one sheet of (real wood) flooring - I must admit - it looked good - but not as good as what my dad made for me!

ALL YOU NEED IS A SHEET OF CARD, A KIFE , A PENCIL&RULER AND WOOD STAIN!

It really could not get any easier!  All you need to do is to use a ruler and the back side of a knife to score the card and regular intervals - every 3/4 of an inch .  Once you have done this to the whole sheet of card (cut to the area of your dolls house floor), using the back of your knife, make so "joins" between the lines to make it look like seperate planks of wood all nailled together to make a wooden flooring!

I can tell you're still not convinced how great that this will look!

To make it look more authentic - put 2 tiny pencil dots into the card at either side of "the joins" you'll see at the end that this makes it look like "wee nails" holding the floorboards in place!

To finnish of your floorboards  and really make them come to life - stain them with the wood stain of your choice! I used a cloth rather than a paintbrush to stain the card - this gives a more even spead and a more realistic look! You may want to wax or varnish your floor boards to add to the effect! TRUST ME it looks brilliant - I wouln't have them in my house if it didn't! You can see above, how my floorboards turned out in my dolls house kitchen!
