I started making dolls clothes as a child, and won my first competition for best dressed doll at the age of ten - it was over thirty years before I entered - and won another competition.

I now teach doll making, little lounges, sofas and chairs, and of course my special love, millinery. I left school to take up a millinery apprenticeship, which I was unable to complete for family reasons, but my love of hats and some of the knowledge remains with me!

Doll making is an exciting journey, bringing new people, new ideas and new challenges with it, and all doll makers seem to retain the sense of wonder and fun which we all experienced as a child, and. Doll makers never grow old.

Romeo is kneeling in traditional "proposal pose" offering a rose to his love. He is approximately 42cm tall in this position, with a needle-modelled face and wired fingers. His legs have fixed joints, his arms have internal button joints, one of them is made in two parts, so that he may offer you the rose.

For the doll who has everything! How about a little lounge for her - or him - to sit in? Learn to make scaled to size armchairs, lounges or boudoir chairs, with my easy foolproof method.

With my "Just a Doll" pattern as the model, we'll learn to make some basic accessories for both day and evening. Shoes and sandals, gloves, handbags and at least four hats, all designed to fit this doll, with a choice of period - 1920/30 or 1940/50. With the techniques learnt here, students will be able to accessorise any doll they care to make, and have tremendous fun while learning.
