I live in Maine with my family and friends.
All through middle school and high school, my teachers all told me I had excellent writing talent and that I could do a lot with it. Well, when I hit college, that all died. I would bust my @$$ to get nice grades, but my best grade was a one-time C. Luckily, at that point I developed mono, so I got to leave for the entire semester. I kept writing once I was healthy.
My next round of Comp 1 didn't go any better. And this time it ended up being a real mind job. The professor kept saying I was a good writer, but I would keep getting bad grades. I would go to her after class and nothing was really explained. The final came around, and we had to write about a controversial topic that we have a personal connection to. I wrote about cancer research, because my nana died of lung cancer when I was about 10 or 11. Now, I can't even think about my nana for a long time without crying, so needless to say, this paper took a lot out of me very quickly.
I brought the paper to the professor a few days before it was due, and she said it looked fine. So I turned it in. I get it back on the last day, and I see a big D on it. I was crushed, and hence, I will never write anything beyond poetry or doll bios again. I may consider a co-op, but thats about it.
