Mara was born in Ireland to a moderately powerful clan. Out of 5 children, she is number 4. She had always been a kind and caring person, even cheery. However, that all changed when the slave hunters came into Ireland and broke up her clan, and her family.
She was sold to a cruel nobleman in France, where she served with 7 other slaves. While in his service, she received horrid beatings that left gruesome scars all over her body. Her cheerful, outgoing personality rapidly deteriorated. She served him for 9 years.
During her 9th year, she learned she was pregnant... Another result of the abuse he visited on all the slave girls. Mara made the mistake of thinking things would be different now that she was carrying his child. It proved to be wrong, and she was again beaten when she was only 8 weeks along. A miscarriage was the result, and she almost died from blood loss.
A slave girl she worked with helped her to escape. Along the way, she collapsed in the forest where a wolf found her. Not knowing if she was really dead or not, it bit her. Mara came awake instantly, and the wolf took off. At the next full moon, she found that the bite hadn't come from a regular wolf.
Mara snuck aboard a ship bound for the "new world" and has since been living in Salem village. A fellow were, Tobias, has taken a liking to her and has opened his home to her. Due to her issues with men, she doesn't completely trust him. She befriended him anyway, and hopes that one day, she can bring herself to trust others again.
