In Greek mythology, the beautiful Coronis was the daughter of King Phlegyas of the Lapiths from Thessaly, and mother of Asclepius (the god of medicine and healing) with the god Apollo.
While Coronis was pregnant with Asclepius, Apollo set the crow Corvis to watch over her and report on her activities. At this time, all crows were white, but when the crow flew to Apollo to tell him that Coronis was having an affair, the enraged god turned the crow to raven black. He blamed the crow for not keeping Coronis away from her lover.
Angry because Coronis was unfaithful to him, Apollo had his sister Artemis slay Coronis with her arrows and had his brother Hermes cut the infant Asclepius out of Coronis' womb. The boy was given to the centaur Chiron to be raised, where Asclepius learned all that Chiron knew about the art of healing. He soon became a great physician.
Although Coronis isn't a named star in the sky, Corvis the crow is a small constellation near Hydra. Perhaps the planet Coronis circles a star near that constellation?
