Thus, listeners got long droney sometimes clippy bizarre techno and other things I felt expressed my feelings of depression and listlessness. Ennui is en vogue! I had two really great rants, too. One about the experience of existential nausea and meaninglessness, and another about mankind fucking up nature royally and how stupid we all are. They were awesome and both spontaneous. The music was quite good. I was very excited to see the new Matmos, Ohsees, Les Claypool, and Black Heart Procession. They were all damn good. I had wanted to get back and play some more from Frances the Mute by Mars Volta and that came out great. Bauhaus once again provided a perfect opener for the show proper. Robot Chicken was a real nice little intro piece, and I think I might plug it into a regular intro for the show, it really sums up the random craziness of TDGB. Plus, it declares "It's alive!" which is a very apt way to describe my show, being as how it is constantly changing, very dynamic, always seeking new things and taking a life all its own, totally out of my control. The compilation from Exponential was a pleasant surprise, and I liked so much of it, I had to play three tracks in a row. Great stuff. I've been listening to Android Lust, also, and I have to play more of it because that album is really quite good; a mix of IDM, Industrial, and Goth, with quite a lot of variance in mood and texture. Thumbs up. Bis is always a standby, one of my favs, and I had to come back to 10,000 Days OF COURSE, and The Pot was perfect because I think it could very well be the next single should there be one. Damn fine song. In summation, I didn't have a lot of hopes or expectations for this show, but after it was all done, I was left with a positive feeling about it. Perhaps I exorcised my existential demons. Out, Sartre, out! Get thee behind me, foul Camus! lolz. Next week I will play some jazz and blues. Been meaning to get to Mingus, Ellington, and Muddy Waters and some others. And as usual there will be lots of what you expect from The Dollar Grab Bag: variety!
