Nanakuli High & Intermediate
Mr. Miura is the new band teacher at Nanakuli and teaches students grades 7 and 8. He has 4 beginning band classes, total 91 students, and 5 in the intermediate band. It will take rebuilding, time, effort and cooperation. The band students at Nanakuli are excited to improve and learn. Because Mr. Miura taught Band at Nanakuli from 1980 - 85, many of them are children or relatives  of his former students. Former Dole VP Mr. Levi Chang is the current Principal at Nanakuli.

19 years at Dole
Mr. Miura started teaching at Dole in fall 1985, 19 of his 25 years of teaching is right here at Dole. Mr. Miura has accepted the Nanakuli Intermediate band position for next fall and will be leaving Dole. Although sad to leave the community, Mr. Miura feels that he is leaving the band program better than how he found it. "I,m going to miss our current 7th graders and will miss them as Advanced students" says Mr. Miura.

Dole Band Joins forces with Farrington
The Dole Band will be performed with the Farrington High School Band on Friday, October 17 at the Farrington vs. Kaimuki football game. A big thanks to the Farrington Band and Director Mr. Regua  for allowing us to rehearse and perform with them and for providing the bus for the game. Special thanks to Farrington Athletic Director Mr. Harold Tanaka for the OIA waivers. Hopefully, this activity will attract our youngsters to continue Band in High School.
