Inscribe & Forge Talisman:
A comparative Study
By: Rathis Tarn
Inscribe and Forge Talisman are arts that have a deep relation which is often overlooked. To understand this relation one must examine each art and it's function carefully and look at how the functions and processes of the two arts are in conjuction...or separation...from one another. Inscribe is a DreamSoul art that uses the essence of a dreamer to create an item. This item is limited to some very basic structures. As all objects, arts, and experiences of the Dream are created by the dreamer or by the interaction between dreamers, so the item created by Inscribe is also no more than the collective experience of the one who invokes it. At it's most basic, Inscribe creates a codex....a written document...that details a piece of knowledge or the thoughts of the dreamer. Wise dreamers who understand better the nature of the Dream are able to alter this slightly and advance upon the concept above by creating simplistic items....ie: flowers...food...jewelry... The limitation placed on these items is that they are still merely an extension of the dreamer and have no intrinsic properties imbued within them relating to the fabric of the Dream. They are static but often beautiful and creative...once again being merely a reflection of the dreamer who creates them. *A small note about the appearance of codi....Codi are created with the same appearance as that with which a dreamer shields him/herself...

In brief: A dreamer creates the concept of clothing within the Dream using the same concept as the energies used to create a codex...The colors of this clothing is projected through a dreamers aura and thus a codex, when created, is "contaminated" by the colors a dreamer has chosen to project* Forge Talisman is a DreamSoul art that draws from the essence of a dreamer and weaves it with his/her elements and binds them together using the fabric of the Dream to create an item. The item created is limited only by the skill and knowledge of the dreamer. The item is created by first materializing an item from the Dream fabric and then "imbueing" it with a dreamers energies in some form. This process creates an item that holds energies placed into it by the dreamer outside of him/herself within the Dreamstate. The energies that a dreamer may place within a forged object include not only pure elements such as Will or Resilience, but also the complex energies of arts. While the shapes of the items created are limited by what a dreamer can comprehend (items that one can recognize within the Dreamstate), the item itself created is limited only by a dreamers imagination. Thus as we look at the two arts together, we can recognize a number of common bonds. Both are arts that draw on a dreamers essence to bring into being an item of the Dreamstate. The items created are both limited by a dreamers own knowledge and imagination. The main difference that can be seen is that the art of Forge Talisman creates an item that holds the energies of a dreamer outside of themselves within the Dreamstate. By token of this it may be suggested that Forge Talisman is merely a more advanced version of the art of Inscribe.
