The Beliefs of the Light
As our knowledge of the dream was not as complete as it is now, though I am sure it is still not complete now, things were left out of the beliefs spoken by Mithrandir on that fateful day. This does not invalidate the old beliefs but shows a failing in them that needs to be fixed for all who walk in the Light.

1. Illuminated- Those that follow the Light believe that the Dreamstate is a higher plane of existence. As such our actions in the Dreamstate affect the waking world, depending on the action it either effects directly or indirectly. Some actions carry over in the form of thoughts and emotions, these are most common. However, as explained in section 2, the imprisoning of nightmares has a direct effect on the waking world by freeing the trapped souls. Also there is Dreamstrike, which is the ultimate in death as it is beyond avatar or body but death of your very soul. Illumination is the basis of our beliefs, from the very beginning of our House it has been the foundation. Before nightmares or dreamstrike the Dreamers of Light were still Illuminated.

2. Nightmares- Nightmares are automatons, mobile talisman, created by the Entropy Coalition. With a mixture of the spawn shaping techniques used by Markosh the Dreamsmith and imprinting, to bind the souls of the unawakened, they created an army with no soul of its own to fight against the Dreamstrike Masters.

3. Freesoul- The Freesoul belief is one of disbelief. They do not believe that their actions in the Dream have any affect on the waking world. This disbelief is a danger to the unawakened. They do not believe that a soul is trapped, for example, and as such do not take the precautions necessary to make sure the soul is freed, thus they cause harm to the Unawakened. While some Freesoul dreamers are intelligent, and good people, the belief itself is a dangerous thing.

4. Drain Essence- This art is a vile, dark, and selfish art. It draws the strength of the essence, and thus the soul it contains, into the evoker to give them strength. This is tantamount to murder as the mare is gone but so is the soul it had held. See section 6 for the exception.

5. Dark Mares- Dark Mares are not Nightmares in the sense that we know them. They have shown time and again that they have a soul of their own, as you can often see them as soulspheres when they have been collapsed. As such the only major problem they offer is that they are violent and many seem to wish the destruction of Dreamers at least, and perhaps the City itself. It is of great importance to protect ourselves and newly awakened from this threat but they are not our major concern and as such we focus primarily on defense when dealing with them, as hunting them is a waste of our time as it does not aid in our mission to free the unawakened, it has also not been proven to keep them from attacking us by getting to them first. They are created by very rare conditions when Nightmares are Banished by a Freesoul group, leaving the soul trapped with the maren essence, though there is one other possible way for them to come into existence. A suitably evil, determined, powerful, and knowledgeable Dreamer, normally a Dreamwright with access to the proper rituals, wishes they can force such a transformation upon themselves and become a Dark Mare.

6. House Prime Artifacts- Most, if not all, Houses have an artifact that exemplifies their beliefs, for us this was the Dreaming Stone. It could imprison mass quantities of essences at once and did not require the user to be a fifth sphere soulmaster. If and when the Houses are reopened they will all have an artifact to follow their beliefs so it is important to know what happens when one manipulates them. Artifacts of this nature can take banished and imprisoned mare tokens, but this does nothing in essence once the mare has been imprisoned or banished there is no known way to reverse it. Draining a House's prime can greatly affect them even if they do get it back. Since Initiations, Knightings, Crownings, and various other House arts use the strength of the prime if the prime has no strength the House is helpless until such time as it rebuilds that strength.

7. Daymares- Daymares are the creation of Iden. They donot seem to have soulspheres that anyone has seen, and yet when collapsed they appear instantly back in the Dark Awakening. They have more intelligence than the normal Nightmare and can use portals. As they reform instantly with no time away from the City and they can wake and enter at will it is almost assured they do not trap the souls of the unawakened. It is much more likely that they are a mix of Nightmare and Dark Mare perhaps.

8. Chaos- This is not to be confused with chaos; the Chaos is the area of the Dreamstate outside the walls of the City. It is comprised of the thoughts and emotions of the unawakened sleepers. This area is full of psychic turmoil that is dangerous to unprepared Dreamers, but we know at one time Dreamers could exist there, as it is where Geriel Endeth first Awoke too, as well as the others after that. There are no Nightmares in the Chaos, except those that have been Banished there and are either trying to get back into the City or are undergoing the merging to become a Dark Mare.
